The Farm

Farming in Greece has changed dramatically. Not only the methods have improved and the farmers knowledge but now farmers are called to become micro businessmen.

In this competitive environment our family had to plan and study carefully the next steps regarding our farm.

With the entrepreneurial spirit that runs in our DNA we planned carefully a transition and modernization that will be profitable for the owners and useful for the whole local community as our forefather Michael Steiakakis would want to.

Gradual Transition :

Having available a rich olive grove we planned a gradual transition of cultivation or rather an enrichment of the existing cultivation adding our Dragon Fruit System in the empty areas of the field and starting to check how the dragon fruit will react in the local climate conditions, soil, etc.

After having positive results we expanded gradually Dragon Fruit plants and added to our business model the cultivation of snails which are in Crete and elsewhere a sought after delicacy.

With the sustainability in mind we feed our snails from unwanted dragon fruit cuttings and leaves and also freshly cuttings from olive tree clippings.

As a final point to our transition is adding a glamping area inside the property, where guests can come close to nature and enjoy the calmness of natural life in a more modern way, without parting completely modern amenities.
